#12LISTS2016 // 2

  • Reading people's blogs, especially some of my favorites, has become a great past time.  I love reading about people's lives and being inspired by their photography and writing.
  • Shooting the shit.  At work, I talk to a lot of people.  But now, I know new people through them being co-workers, but I've also began to strike up conversations with regulars.  Who would've thunk it, huh?
  • Down time at work allows for surprisingly deep conversations.
  • Beauty provides a topic that's easy to talk about to a lot of people.  It develops conversations in to surprisingly deep talks, sometimes.  I can talk to Danielle about the new Gwen Stefani collab with Urban Decay, or I can talk to Olivia about how the beauty industry is a construct to make women spend money.
  • As I get older, it gets harder to come up with "excuses" to see people.  No one just hangs out anymore.  You need to eat food, or watch a movie or television show, play a game, or go shopping.  Some of by best conversations recently have been over food, or on walks.  I love taking walks.
  • I did yoga with Tho a couple of weeks ago, and it was seriously amazing.
  • This just makes me think of Bri, who is all about making meaningful connections with other people.
  • Have you ever felt that connection to everyone else at a concert?

#12LISTS2016 // 1

Why did I stop doing this?  Life got crazy, and I just didn't want to blog anymore.  I've been really struggling with inspiration recently, so let's see where this goes.  I missed January's list, so here's some pseudo-resolutions, comin' at you this February.

  • I want to read more this year, and really take time to become involved in reading.  I've already started a feminist book club with some friends from work, so here's hoping!
  • I want to create this year.  This damn art block has gone on for too long.  I want to draw and make and write and get out of my funk and stop feeling bad when people ask me what I've been doing.
  • I want to start doing yoga almost every day, and maybe add in a cardio element.  Running or swimming maybe?  I should just try yoga first, though.  It shouldn't be as hard as it feels!  I always feel really good after a short session, so why is it so hard to roll out the mat on a daily basis?
  • I want to do more things.  I want to go out on walks, talk with strangers, make new friends, go on a trip.
  • I want to spend less money, and be happier with what I have.  I have a lot.  I need to realize that.
  • I want to learn to play an instrument.  I just found some "drumming without drums" videos on youtube.  Hah.

12 LISTS // 3

I'm back for list number three.  Life has been alright.  I still want to write more, but I can't seem to figure out how.  I've been practicing guitar, which is a plus.  My boyfriend is a really good player, and he is very encouraging and has helped me figure out a couple of things.  So that's cool.

Travel has been an important goal for me for a long time, even though I've never left the country.  I want to go everywhere and see everything.  One day, I suppose.

  • England
  • Paris
  • Alaska
  • Australia
  • Norway
  • Ireland
  • Egypt
  • Morocco
  • Italy
  • California, again.

12 LISTS // 2

I'm back with list number two!  Life has been chugging along recently.  I've been trying to figure out how to make taking photographs for my blog interesting.  I've never really enjoyed photography, and I can't seem to figure out how to make it fun.  My boyfriend suggested that I look at it less like a task and more like a challenge:  figure out what I want and then how to achieve it, rather than just jumping in and taking random photos.  Thing is, I don't really know what I want to achieve.

Either way, i feel like I'd get down and feel like what I was posting was boring.  I like when bloggers inject a little personality in to their posts, rather than just posting reviews or hauls.  I like seeing life shots, home tours, storage ideas, and more creative style posts.  Can I make those sorts of things?  I guess I could try.  I don't even know where to start.

  • my artistic ability
  • positivity
  • lipstick in general
  • most of my wardrobe
  • perfume
  • my hair
  • my height
  • listening to music while walking
  • but mostly red lipstick

12 LISTS // 1

I've had a lot of trouble with the concept of blogging.  I never know what to write; I even stopped reading blogs for a while.  Now that I'm reading them again, it just makes me think about writing my own again, even though I have no frankin' clue what to write about.

Mini Penny introduced me to the 12 Lists series, created by Chez Gillian & Clear The Way.  It's just a list a month.  If anything, it'll be a fun thing to do at the end of each month.  Or beginning.  Whenever.  I love making lists, anyway.

Without further ado, in no particular order: Some smells I thought about and decided were pretty dang good smelling.

  • old spice deodorant on a man
  • mac lipstick
  • books
  • spearmint
  • aveda's air control hair spray
  • dollar bills
  • almond
  • the body shop's white musk libertine perfume
  • coconut oil
  • sourdough bread
  • rainy weather
  • lemon scented soaps
