LITTLE LISTS // II

With all the time I spend on the internet, I find a lot of stuff that I think is cool.  So here's some cool stuff.

I loved Randi's (of Sailing over a Cardboard Sea) Twin Peaks Style Study.  I love Twin Peaks, and I love really looking at the costume design of "period" movies and television.  Also, Audrey's eyebrows are my eyebrow goals forever.

A Clothes Horse did a really cool list of Six Vintage Women Photographers You Should Know.  I recognized one or two, but this was a really neat introduction.  I love vintage photography; I really feel like modern photography has lost something that it had in the past.

I was linked to an amazing blog called Queering Makeup, which is all about the relationship between beauty and non-normative presentation.

Speaking of makeup, if you like watching people apply makeup while dropping some pretty amazing views on non-heteronormative sexuality and gender presentation, check out Jeffree Starr's Get Ready With Me with Alyssa Edwards.

Silvia from I Want To Be A Fool is basically everything I want to be in a blogger.  Her photography is gorgeous and I always love reading her entries.  Her recent one about Sicily left me speechless.

An Illustrated Guide to the Kon-Mari Method really helped me figure out what Marie Kondo was talking about in her book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

I've been watching Weezy Waiter's videos for at least six years now, and recently I've been clicking a bit more often as I move away from my youtubers and let's players.  This video made me really think, and I can't wait for this next series.  Good thing he uploads daily!

Last but not least, I've absolutely been loving Panic! at the Disco's new album, Death of a Bachelor.  I've also been re-visiting my beloved My Chemical Romance.  Two albums of note are Danger Days: True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys and, of course, The Black Parade.

LOVING RECENTLY

Greetings!  I've had a lovely spring break so far, but I have been lacking on my usual posting scheme, so I thought I'd just let you in on a couple of articles and videos I've been loving recently.  These, of course, have no rhyme and reason, so enjoy the wide range of actives I get up to on the internet!

A super cool article on how Wes Anderson's characters only move on the horizontal or vertical plane, never diagonally.  I'm so hyped to see The Grand Budapest Hotel!
A very sweet and heartfelt letter from a father to his daughter.
TELEVISION // Mad Men
I've bitten the bullet and finally started watching Mad Men again!  I started a while ago and just didn't get hooked, but I started again since I was done catching up with Elementary (also another fantastic show) and now I am totally hooked.  Hopefully I don't get bored like I've heard a lot of people did towards season three.

An amazing look at intimacy between two human beings.
A perfect way to reflect on your day and place in the world.
I've just been loving the Free People blog recently!

VIDEO // Grizzly Bear Caught On Camera by KickThePJ
One of my favorite youtubers.  Never fails to cheer me up with his amazing & hilarious video ideas.
Absolutely obsessed with Into Mind's wardrobe building posts recently.  I'm planning on doing a post about building my own wardrobe soon.
GENERAL // Wardrobe Planning
After discovering Into Mind's blog, I've been thinking a lot about refining my personal style and creating a definitive wardrobe where I can pull out any item and love it.  It'll definitely take a little while, but now that I've thought about it, I know what I'm looking for.  With the help of pinterest, the journey has been a little easier.
I hoped you liked that little peek in to what I've been enjoying recently!  I think I may just go and watch more Mad Men now....

WHAT I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS

Hi everyone!

This is a bit late, I know, but I wanted to get all the straggler gifts in before I made a post/filmed a video.  This was in vain, of course.  I still have more late presents coming.  C'mon people!

However, I wanted to try something different for this post!  I did film a youtube video talking about each of my gifts, but I also wanted to make a little bonus for the blog lovers, or people who just don't fancy youtube very much.  I took some photos of my favorite gifts from this Christmas as well!  Enjoy!

Self explanatory.  I love this pallet!

The Joy Of Cooking was actually a birthday gift, but I lumped it.  The rest are all queer literature, since that's a lot of what my art focuses on.  Fun fact, if I had discovered queer studies earlier, I would have gotten a minor in Global Gender Studies.  Alas, by the time I considered it, it was too late and I didn't have enough time to complete the required courses.  I recommend all of these books!

My cousin got this peppermint hot chocolate set from a friend, and gave me the tin when I complimented it!  I can't wait to use this to hold things.  I just don't know what these things will be just yet!

Broaches from my grandmother and great-grandmother.  My Aunt and Uncle found them while packing to move and they let the girls of the family (myself and my two cousins) divide them amongst ourselves.  All three of us have a butterfly broach now!

A lovely tin of English Breakfast tea from my bestie, Celina.  The tea bags are that really lovely sachet type.  It's so luxurious!  I've never had tea like that, and even though I want the tin for storage, I'm definitely going to try to keep these and make them last!  I also got Celina a matching tin of white tea for Christmas.

So many body products!!  I can't wait to use all of these.  All smell absolutely delicious.  I've already been using the Mentha one and it leaves your skin tingling (as well as it being my favorite scent: peppermint!).  The Kiss my Face exfoliation wash is definitely going to be more of a treat, along with the One Direction body wash.  I won't want to use that one up!

GOODBYE 2013 // HELLO 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's finally 2014, I can't believe it!  2013 was a really great year for me, despite a few hiccups.  I grew a lot as a person, experienced some new things, and made new friends (I know that sounds so utterly generic, but it's true!)!  I didn't necessarily have any new year's resolutions for this year, but they're popping up in my head even as I type!
- BE HEALTHY -
For the past couple of months, my heart has been doing weird jumpy things and beating really hard at times.  No fear!  I'm sure I'm fine, as I know arrhythmias are common.  I'm also making an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow just to get checked out.  However, I know that it would help to have a healthier heart and to be in better shape.  Therefore, I hope to make it to the gym three times a week this coming semester.  I have a gym that's free to use at my school, why don't I use it!  Along with going to the gym, I want to make more healthy food and not give in to my cravings for junk (maybe I'll get my bf to eat healthier as well!).
-  BE HAPPY -
This past year definitely had it's ups and downs in terms of boys, friends, relationships, and loneliness.  However, I've learned to only allow people in my life that appreciate me for me, and not settle for any less.  I already have people like that in my life, but I hope to find more, and cut out those who bring me down!
-  MAKE ART -
This year, I want to do a number of things relating to art.  First on the list is to complete my senior thesis!  After that, however, it will get a lot more difficult.  I'll have graduated, and for the first time in eight years, I wont have school to push my art making.  I'll have to push myself!  I refuse to repeat last summer, where I created almost nothing for four months.  Along with fine art (printmaking, drawing, etc), I want to create music!  I hope to make an EP with my band in 2014.
Along the same vein, I created a video talking about my past year called 21 on 21 (twenty one things about my twenty first year), or my 2013 in review!  One of my favorite youtubers, livelavalive, or Mitchell Davis, created a 23 on 23 video when he turned 24 and encouraged others to do it as well, and I had been planning on filming one when I turned 21.  However, as I explained in the video, I wasn't able to make the video until the very end of the year, almost a month after my actual birthday.  So, I decided to combine it with my 2013 in review video!  Enjoy!

CHRISTMAS

MERRYYYY CHRISTMAAAS!

I had such a lovely day today and I decided to make a video about it.  I've been wanting to get in to making youtube videos and have had a false start or two, so I realized the only way to go about it is to just DO it.  So I filmed today for a teensy bit and fumbled around on FCPx (which I am not a fan of, by the way) and here it is!

I want to make a "What I Got For Christmas" video and I probably will after the new year, since that's when I'll have all my late gifts as well.

I hope everyone had a day filled with love and fun and all that nice stuff!!
